Grace Okonkwo, mother to Cross, the Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) season six housemate, says she will use her son’s popularity and platform to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In a now-viral video, the evangelist also reminded her son that God sent him to the reality show for a purpose, which must be accomplished.
As such, Grace said just the way Cross will be promoting the products of brands and companies, the 31-year-old socialite should also be ready to disseminate the gospel with such verve.
“Companies are coming, brands are coming for their products. I, myself, I have my own product; the gospel is my own product. So, that is why I said, ‘Cross, as companies are calling you to be their ambassador, Holy Ghost school is calling you to be our ambassador to preach the gospel.’ That is what I want,” she said.
“But Cross, other companies can pay you but we are not going to pay; you will do it for God.
“This is what I was called for and created for and whatever I can do on earth to please and serve God, I will. My calling is preaching the gospel. God sent you there for the gospel.
“As companies are using theirs, I will also use it to preach the gospel. So what I ask you is that all the time whenever I need you, please give your consent for the gospel that we preach.
“All these your lovers, you know that there are a lot of them, tell them that Jesus needs them and your mom loves all of them. So bring them to the Holy Ghost. We are going to ‘ship’ together. That is what I learnt from Big Brother.”
Grace’s announcement comes at about the same time when Cross sparked a wave of backlash on social media after he shared a nude video of himself on Snapchat.
In the now-deleted footage, a stark naked Cross could be seen showing off his tattoos and manhood.
Cross, whose real name is Ikechukwu Okonkwo, had earlier narrated how difficult it was to get the support of his mother to participate in the show.
