Musa Suleman, the young man arrested in Edo for using his four-year-old daughter for alleged sensual content creation, says he wanted her to become a celebrity.

On Sunday, Suleman was arrested for allegedly posting semi-nude photos and videos of his daughter on social media.

A case was launched after an X user flagged the inappropriate content to Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police spokesperson.

Adejobi confirmed his arrest, adding that the Edo state police command planned to “counsel” the father instead of pressing charges.

During police interrogation, Suleman argued that he created the Instagram account to showcase his daughter as a model.

He claimed that he had no intention of harming her but rather wanted her to become a celebrity.

“I was arrested because of what people were commenting on my daughter’s page on Instagram for her upcoming birthday,” he said.

“I posted the videos on her page. I don’t mean to harm anybody because I am also used to watching people doing content creation, comedy and other things.

“But I think she is too small and she cannot be doing comedy. So I decided to bring her up in the model way, making her wear model dresses and showing her as a model.

“This month is her birthday, May 28. She will be turning four years old. To my own understanding, I wanted her to become a celebrity.”

Simi, the singer, had earlier criticised the police’s method of handling the case.

Suleman’s child exploitation case comes days after the Lagos sexual offences and domestic violence court sentenced Success Ude to 14 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy with hearing and speech impairments.
