Abosede Aloba, the mother of Mohbad, says she only started to have a cordial relationship with the late singer in 2019.
Born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, Mohbad passed away on September 12 and was laid to rest the following day.
Speaking on Wednesday at the coroner’s inquest into the singer’s death, Abosede claimed Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, had instructed him to distance himself from her.
NAN reports that Abosede said not until 2019, she never had a good rapport with Mohbad.
Abosede also said she once pleaded with Naira Marley, the Marlian Records boss, during the dispute between him and her son.
She added that she sought the intervention of fuji musician Wasiu Alabi Pasuma into the matter.
“I asked Mohbad to call Pasuma to report Naira Marley because of the consistent beating, and Pasuma said he would intervene,” she said.
“Mohbad kept on cautioning me not to talk.
“I only got to know about the injury four days after, and the only person he had issues with is Naira Marley.”
Abosede said Omowunmi, Mohbad’s wife, had once accused the singer of infidelity.
“The only complaint from the wife about him was infidelity,” she added.
The inquest, which began on October 13, took place at the Ikorodu magistrates’ court in Lagos.
Earlier, Joseph claimed Mohbad’s wife was cheating on him with another Marlian Records signee.
He also revealed that he and his son lived together for 18 years.
