Nigerian singer Orezi has reflected on his past relationship experiences, including a promise he made to buy a house for a lady that he ultimately didn’t fulfill.
Orezi spoke about love, money, and fame in a recent interview on the Echoo Room podcast.
The 38-year-old singer emphasized that women are also guilty of making unfulfilled promises, noting that men’s promises are often more visible due to their clear desires.
He added that women sometimes make promises unnecessarily.
The singer also discussed the recent “sex-for-Lamborghini” controversy surrounding Burna Boy, who was accused of promising to buy a Lamborghini for socialite Sophia Egbueje in exchange for intimacy, only to renege on his promise.
“I have promised before. I have never promised a babe N300 million before. Am I crazy? I have promised to give a girl a house before. But I did not deliver. How am I going to buy a house?” he said.
“Girls also promise men. Sometimes they would promise to stay with you forever. At the end of the day, it is not only you. They also promise and do not deliver. Let everybody continue to promise each other.
“Men’s promises are always audible. Men want things. Women promise you unnecessarily.”
Orezi shared a personal anecdote about a northern woman who gifted him N30 million in 2016 simply because she liked him.
He noted that the gesture was a surprise, as they didn’t have a romantic relationship.
“…Women have done me well because I did them before. The highest money I received in 2016 when I was in Abuja was N30 million. She gave me because she liked me. We were not dating but we had something going on. I had money too. She looked at me as a fine boy,” he added.
“I did not ask her for the money. We had fun and went home. I was shocked. I told her I was working on a project in Abuja. She asked me when I was going back to Lagos. And when I got to Lagos she sent me N30 million. There is a privilege in being a celebrity.”
