Wizkid took to his X page on Wednesday to disclose that he “loves the energy” of the Nigerian men’s national team.

“New super eagles team! Love the energy,” he wrote.

Although he didn’t provide specific context, it’s possible that his comment is related to the team’s fondness for Afrobeats music, which many of the players enjoy listening to and miming during gatherings.

The Super Eagles are currently training in Kigali, Rwanda, ahead of their 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Rwanda on Friday.

The team, led by head coach Eric Chelle, held their first session on Tuesday with 22 players in attendance.

The Super Eagles will take on Rwanda in Kigali before playing Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo on March 25.

Nigeria is seeking to improve its standing in the World Cup qualifiers, having remained winless after four games, with one loss and three draws, placing them fifth in Group C.
