Hindatu Umar, a 25-year old female, has resumed work as chairperson of Argungu local government area of Kebbi state.

Argungu, renowned for its fishing festival, is a Muslim-dominated community in Kebbi.

Umar is the first female and youngest person to hold such a position.

A secondary school graduate, Umar was appointed by Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Kebbi state governor .

Before now, Umar had been the deputy chairperson; she got her promotion to be the chairperson when the former local chairman’s administration ended.

After resuming at the local government secretariat on Thursday, she paid a courtesy visit to Samaila Muhammadu Mera, the emir of Argungu, at his palace.
