Hear Word!, an acclaimed stage play that employs social commentary to tell stories of inequality and transformation, is set to return to MUSON Centre, where it was first conceived.
Themed ‘Hear Word! Naija Women Talk True’, the play is directed by Ifeoma Fafunwa.
Hear Word, in usual practice, will feature some of Nigeria’s best actresses and thespians.
The cast include Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Joke Silva, Bimbo Akintola, Ufuoma McDermott, Elvina Ibru, Zara Udofia-Ejoh, Omonor, and Rita Edward.
Others are Debbie Ohiri, Oluchi Tochukwu with master percussionist Blessing Idireri and Emeka Anokwuru.
Hear Word!, which debuted at the MUSON Centre in 2014, has been performed to audiences across the world— from Harvard to Connecticut to Amsterdam.
The play will be shown on Saturday and Sunday (August 5-6). There will be two shows each on both days.
Hear Word was the first Nigerian stage play to be invited by Harvard University and the prestigious American Repertory Theatre.
Over time, the themes of the play are based on real issues affecting Nigerian women, as well as their limitations and challenges.
