BBC reports that Asantewaa began the attempt to break the Guinness World Records (GWR) title on December 24 and ended on 29.

The 33-year-old media personality reportedly sang for 126 hours and 52 minutes.

Asantewaa performed 125 songs from the different genres of Ghanaian music in her singing marathon.

According to the rules set by GWR, she is allowed a five-minute break every hour or twenty minutes after four hours.

“It would be an inspiration to all women to come out of your comfort zone and try new opportunities,” Asantewaa told BBC.

“When you put your mind to it you can achieve it”.

Ghana’s music stars such as Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, and Sarkodie visited the venue of the competition to cheer her on.

Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana’s Vice-President, was also present to show his support.

Asamtewaa aimed to beat the 105-hour record set by Sunil Waghmare, an Indian, in 2012.

It, however, remains to be seen if the Guinness World Records is aware of the attempt.

In June, Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef, was certified for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

GWR tasks have since become the trend, with more Africans mouthing their interest in setting a record.
