Gbenro Ajibade, the Nollywood producer and actor, has achieved a significant milestone — becoming a certified United States citizen.
The excited actor took to Instagram to share photos from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services office, expressing gratitude with a simple caption: “God did it”.
Ajibade was previously married to Nigerian-American actress Osas Ighodaro, whom he tied the knot with in June 2015. The couple divorced in 2019 after four years of marriage and have a daughter together.
In 2019, Ajibade denied claims that he married Ighodaro to acquire a US passport.

“People are entitled to their opinion. Those are the bullets I’ll always have to take. I wear those shoes, I know what it feels like. I’m trying to be that responsible man. Regardless, I’ll always be there for my daughter. Right now, I’m trying to focus on work,” he said.
“If it was about that, I won’t go through doling a traditional wedding, involving families, doing a white wedding in New York and all that. Do you know how much I spent? It was way away from that. That just popped up when we started having kids.”
He also recounted how he had to “drive lifts” and do “a number of odd jobs” to make ends meet in Atlanta.
Aside from being an actor and producer, Ajibade is also a known model.
He gained recognition in the film industry after playing the lead character in the popular soap opera ‘Tinsel’.
In 2011, Ajibade won Most Outstanding Actor/Model of the Year at the 2011 Nigerian Model Achievers Awards.
