Thousands of food lovers converged last month in Port Harcourt for the 2025 Bole Festival, an annual celebration of the city’s roasted plantain delicacy that has grown into one of Nigeria’s most vibrant food and lifestyle gatherings.

This year’s edition blended food, music, art and community spirit in a colourful showcase that reflected the city’s evolving culinary culture.

Among the festival’s key attractions was the Maggi Arena, a lively space that explored the connection between flavour, creativity and shared experiences.

Inside the arena, local chefs demonstrated recipes drawn from different regions of Nigeria, highlighting how seasoning and storytelling go hand in hand in preserving culinary heritage.

Visitors also participated in cooking showcases, tasting sessions and conversations about food’s role in shaping identity.

Beyond the food, the arena fostered a sense of togetherness with games, live music and performances by young creators who reflected on how cuisine continues to unite people across backgrounds.

“Our goal was to take Maggi out of the kitchen and into cultural spaces where young people gather,” said Funmi Osineye, category manager, Culinary for Maggi.

“Bole Festival gave us the perfect platform to show how Maggi seasons not just food but also experiences. Seeing thousands of people experience that together was powerful.”

Across the festival grounds, attendees interacted with art installations, shared personal stories and engaged in creative activities that underscored the theme of food as a bridge between generations and communities.

For many visitors, the 2025 Bole Festival offered more than a feast for the senses – it reaffirmed the growing movement to celebrate Nigeria’s food traditions in modern, inclusive ways.
