Airtel Nigeria, a leading telecoms operator, has partnered with UAC Restaurants, owners of the Mr. Biggs brand, to feed 5,000 underprivileged Nigerians under its CSR initiative dubbed ‘Five Days of Love.’
The initiative kicked off Tuesday, December 13 at Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos, with Segun Ogunsanya, CEO/MD of Airtel, leading his colleagues to feed hundreds of people that stormed the venue.
Speaking during the event, the Airtel CEO noted that the Christmas season is not just a time for jolly and celebration but also an occasion for sharing and giving, stating that Airtel, in celebration of yuletide, is committed to spreading love, joy, and happiness across the communities where it operates.
“Indeed, Airtel is passionate about uplifting and empowering Nigerians and we shall continue to create and support platforms that will make lives better for telecoms consumers.
“My colleagues in the North, South and West of Nigeria will also be hosting this same party, marking the theme of this campaign, Five Days of Love,” he said.
The Airtel Five Days of Love train will hit Enugu today, targeting over 1,000 beneficiaries at the local government headquarters, in Igbo-Eze South.
On Thursday, 1,000 people in Ibadan, Oyo state, will receive free meals at Ojo Barracks, Ibadan and on Friday, the campaign will reach an additional 1,000 beneficiaries in the federal capital territory (FCT), Abuja, at the Catholic Church Field, Old Karimu, Abuja.
The Five Days of Love CSR initiative is part of Airtel’s Employee Volunteer Scheme (EVS), a platform created to assist underprivileged people.
