Fireboy is signed to YBNL Nation, Olamide’s record label.

In an interview on the show 90s Baby, Fireboy described his encounter with Olamide as “the most interesting thing” that ever happened to him.

He recounted how he was bothered about accommodation when someone reached out to disclose that Olamide wanted to speak with him.

Fireboy said, despite initial doubts, he messaged Olamide and got signed via a text on WhatsApp.

The singer added that moments after he agreed, Olamide announced the signing on social media, making it feel like the post had already been drafted and was only waiting for his confirmation.

“I remember that day I was in the studio with Brainy and Oxlade, where I was telling them how my friend, whom I’m squatting with, was planning to move to another house, and I needed to get a place for myself,” Fireboy narrated.

“It was that day someone called me and said Olamide would like to talk to me, and gave me a number to text.

“I thought it was an April Fool’s prank, but I texted the number and Olamide asked me if I was signed. He asked if I would like to join YBNL, but I was still skeptical about whether the person was Olamide.

“It was on WhatsApp. Thinking about it now, I think he already had the document in his draft and he was waiting for me to answer. Immediately, I said yes, I saw a notification of his post on twitter because I was following him on twitter.

“So I saw the notification that said Olamide welcomes Fireboy to YBNL, and I’m like, ‘Is that how they sign people now?’

“And that Olamide for you. When his spirit tells him to do something, he does it. That was it really, and before I knew it, my phone was blowing up.”

Fireboy said his debut album ‘Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps’ was written and produced within five days, due to Olamide’s spontaneous nature.

“He opened a WhatsApp group and started planning the album,” the singer recalled.

“Olamide is very spontaneous, that’s how he just texted me if I am ready for the album after just releasing two singles, so it took five days to finish the album ‘Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps’ and I was scared.

“The night it dropped, I was so nervous that it was the most nervous I had been in my life.”

In 2024, Fireboy appreciated Olamide for being a “blessing” and a guiding force in his career.
