Femi Branch, a Nollywood actor, has called on Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun state, and the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) to investigate the management of Pavilion Hotel and Suites for allegedly planting secret cameras in rooms.
In a now-viral video, two men believed to have lodged in the hotel located at Ayepe claimed to have uncovered secret cameras inside their rooms
In the footage, one of the men is seen with five cameras said to have been recovered from the rooms with one of the cameras retrieved from an air conditioner.
However, a man believed to be an official of the hotel could be seen defending the action amid threats from the two men to ensure the video is circulated to the public.
The incident has continued to generate heated reactions on social media with many Nigerians accusing the hotel’s management of breaching people’s privacy.
Joining the fray, Branch slammed the hotel management in an Instagram post on Monday. He also called on the police to ensure a thorough probe of the hotel.
The movie star said those who have previously lodged at the hotel should be interrogated to see if they have been robbed or kidnapped after checking out.
“This issue of cameras in hotel rooms that people laugh about is not a funny matter. What will make someone to put a camera in a hotel room?,” he queried.
“What is the motive? I am calling on the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to arrest the manager and all the operators of the pavilion hotel and suites in Ayepe to do a thorough investigation of all the guests that have lodged there to find out if any of them got robbed, kidnapped or murdered.
“When you are in your room making phone calls, disclosing confidential information, if you have money, you may have it spread around you inside the room, they have gotten a lot of information from these hidden cameras in the rooms.
“Forget if they saw you sleeping with your girlfriend or wife, that’s is trivial. Imagine other information that they would have gotten from your private conversation and what they could have done with it.
“So both the hotel manager and staff should be investigated. They should find all those who have logged at hotel and interrogate them if they are still alive or robbed.”
