Fashola Photographic Foundation is set to launch with the aim of supporting, promoting and developing the art and technology of visual arts – photography, cinematography and videography.
Ahead of the launch, there will be a series of contests and workshops for emerging and professional photographers which are intended to raise awareness and develop critical thinking in the contemporary photographic art in Nigeria.
The themes of the inaugural photo contest are ‘Photography Manipulation,’ ‘Dialogue with Nature’ and Nostalgia Portraits’.
The winner of the contest will be sponsored on a four weeks training at the New York Film Academy.
15 participants of the contest will also be selected from across the region for an intensive week-long workshop conducted by international professional photographers in Lagos.
The Fashola Photo workshop, which will hold from July 22 – 26, is tuition-free.
The week-long workshop will include street photography, documentary-making, and portraitures.
The foundation is a tribute to the late Ademola Fashola by his children, in celebration of his love for photography.
The launch will take place on August 5 at the banquet hall, City Hall, Lagos.
