Fans of Azealia Banks, an American rapper, have taken to social media to show her support amid her recent posts which suggested that she could be contemplating suicide.
On Saturday, Banks left many of her followers worried when she took to her Instagram stories to share what appeared to be her resolve to commit suicide.
“Yea, I think I’m done here. This pandemic, extreme lack of social interaction, no intimacy, combined with constant public ridicule is making life harder than its worth. I think I will end my tenure here on earth soon,” she had written.
“I’m not begging for attention or asking for sympathy/empathy. I’m just ready to go. Peacefully of course. I will document my last times and release a film for you all to finally understand me, from my perspective… My soul is tired. I’m ready to go.”
In a follow-up post on Monday, Banks said she feels better now than before.
“I am fine, better than I was before,” she wrote in a post accompanied by a picture of herself smiling.
She also called out those she said never cared she existed before but are now showing concerns amid her situation.
“Don’t express concern for me when I’m down. You can do that when I’m up there. Support me when I’m feeling good and got smile on my face. Don’t support me when I’m crying or down. Do that when I’m showing my creativity and releasing new music…” she said.

Sending positive thoughts to Azealia Banks. The industry and the internet has treated her extremely unfairly. Yes she’s said & done some nasty things but so have many other celebrities with bipolar disorder, yet they are met with empathy and “free passes” while she is demonised. pic.twitter.com/U2By5E0eqJ

I try not to be bitter about the Azealia Banks thing but people really threw her away but will give their precious whites, their aspirational light skins, and the awful abusive men in the industry they worship chance after chance and make excuses for them but this lady gets dust

Y’all don’t wanna give ppl their flowers till u by their gravesite & that’s the problem. Y’all ignore Azealia Banks every day. Talk about how problematic she is. Now the aftermath of years of being treated poorly and unappreciated is showing its head and y’all wanna fake care. 🖕🏿

If you’ve never struggled with depression/ mental health issues than please do not be a fucking dick to Azealia Banks. Wanting to end your life is a very VERY dark place and deep depression (trust me I would know..) so please send her positive vibes and have a fucking heart man.

I really hope that Azealia Banks is covered/protected in this moment. Black women with mental illness genuinely do not get the same grace/empathy as others do. She deserves a healthy life where she doesn’t feel this pain.

Praying for Azealia Banks.
Black women need grace.
Black women need tenderness.
Black women need care.
Black women need mercy.
Black women need forgiveness.

Kanye gets thoughts and prayers and becomes a billionaire with all the bs he's said. People care about his mental health and will give him a pass. Azealia Banks has had similar breaks in her mental health and the blogs ignore her. She doesn't get any passes. Pray for her too! pic.twitter.com/TVPbDGnoIT

I pray for Azealia Banks. She’s never been given the same grace and that can become exhausting for anyone.
