Simisola Ognleye, a Nigerian vocalist better known as Simi, says making ‘Duduke’, her 2020 hit single, was special and personal to her.
The 32-year-old was addressing her primordial expectations about the single, which saw her flaunt her physic shortly before she eventually birthed her first child with Adekunle Gold, her husband.
“I’ve debated with myself for months on whether or not I should document my personal experience as a working, pregnant woman,” she wrote on Instagram.
“I still haven’t decided, because I’m still trying to navigate my current chemistry with social media.
“I’ll say this though, making this song was special for me, because it was personal, but I honestly had no idea it would be as huge as it is. I didn’t know it would resonate with so many people.”

The mother of one had first released the project’s audio which concatenated beats and soulful sounds and saw her justify her obsession for a distant lover she claims to care so much about.
In the visuals, however, the talented singer can be seen playing piano in front of a beach’s shoreline while occasionally caressing her protruded belly, wearing a yellow gown at sunrise.
“First let me say to you, I can not wait to see you. You are the treasure I’ve been waiting for. Do you know how much I really need you, I dey wait for the day when I can finally kiss you,” she can be heard singing.
