Spotify on Tuesday announced that ‘One Dance’, a collaboration between Drake, Wizkid, and Kylar, has become the most streamed song in the history of the music platform.
With over 880 million streams, ‘One Dance’ surpassed the previous record-holder ‘Lean On’, a joint effort by Major Lazer and DJ Snake.
‘Lean On’ had 526 million global plays when it became most-streamed in November 2015.
Drake now has over 8 billion total streams on Spotify, says the press release put out by the music platform.
‘One Dance’ is on the Canadian rapper’s album ‘Views’, which is the top-selling album released this year in the United States.
‘Views’, when released in April, broke a ton of streaming records, despite being exclusively released on Apple Music two weeks early.
In only its first week of release, the album’s tracks were played over 245 million times in the US.
Wizkid’s appearance on ‘One Dance’ significantly raised his international profile and increased his following among the western audience.
