Simisola ‘Simi’ Ogunleye, a singer and songwriter, has released a romance-oriented single that sees her commit lyrical prowess to eulogize a perceived lover.
The project, entitled ‘Duduke’, was released on Thursday as her first single for the year 2020.
The song, which is enriched by concatenating beats and soulful sounds with both a piano and a guitar, has Simi trying to justify her obsession her a man she claims to care so much about.
Over the course of her career, Simi has pulled the strings of fame, having made a name for herself owing to the versatility that saw her music span the R&B, Afropop, and soul genres.
She had started her career as a gospel singer, releasing ‘Ogaju’, her debut studio album, in 2008. Simi gained prominence in 2014 after releasing ‘Tiff’, a song that made it to the 2015 Headies.
Thereafter, the vocalist had signed a record deal with X3M Music in 2014, although she later left the label in May 2019 following the expiration of her contract.
After releasing her second studio album in 2017, ‘Omo Charlie Champagne’, her third body of work, followed. She would later launch her own record label Studio Brat in 2019.
