Adewale Emmanuel, Nigerian singer better known as Mayorkun, has put out a four-track EP remixing his previous single ‘Geng’ alongside MI Abaga, Vector and YCee.
The EP comes on the back of a protracted feud between Vector and MI Abaga, a fellow rapper, with whom he has exchanged diss tracks in recent times.
The body of work, which also enlists Ghana’s Kwesi Arthur and Tanzania’s Rayvanny, was released in the early hours of Friday, after he had earlier announced it a day before.
‘Geng Remix’ was produced with vocals from an array of singers renowned across Africa, having also featured Innoss’B, a Congolese singer-songwriter, and Riky Rick, a South African rapper.
Mayorkun had first released ‘Geng’ in January after much anticipation but many singers have since continued to make different versions of the song due to its reception among music lovers.
Mayorkun, who is aged 26, has continued to pull the strings of fame in the country’s music landscape with his critically acclaimed releases.
He was signed into DMW, a record label owned by Davido, Nigeria’s globally renowned Afropop singer, in 2016.
The singer gained popularity after ‘The Mayor of Lagos’, his debut album, featuring D’banj, Davido, Patoranking among others, did great numbers on streaming platforms.
Mayorkun’s career strides have seen him scoop several awards including ‘Next Rated’ artiste at the 2018 edition of The Headies as well as ‘Artiste of the Year’ back in 2017.
