Jesse Jagz, the Nigerian rapper, has put out a new single titled ‘Chant Down Babylon’.

The music star announced the release of the song via social media in the early hours of Friday.

‘Chant Down Babylon’ is a reggae-infused track, inspired by Bob Marley, the late reggae legend.

The song is a follow-up to his 2020 EP ‘Garba’.

Jagz had been off the music scene since the EP.

In September 2022, the rapper took to his Twitter page to speak on his comeback.

‘Chant Down Babylon’ is the rapper’s first release this year.

The less than four minutes song was written and produced by Jagz.

In the song, the rapper sings about the the sad reality and current situation of things in Nigeria.

“These evil men have come back to deceive and conquer, but what all they have to offer is war, poverty and hunger, slavery of consciousness, our past, present and yonder,” the lyrics read.

Jesse Jagz rose to fame after signing a record deal with Chocolate City in 2010.

He released his debut album that same year.

He, however, left Chocolate City in 2013 and launched his independent label Jagz Nation.

Jagz later returned to Chocolate City in 2015 but left again prior to releasing his fourth studio album ‘Odysseus’ in 2017.
