Porsha Williams, the estranged wife of Simon Guobadia, the Nigerian businessman, has asked him not to destroy financial records relevant to their divorce.
The couple exchanged vows in November 2022.
Rumours of their split surfaced on Thursday when Porshia filed for divorce in Atlanta, United States.
Guobadia also confirmed his separation from ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star, saying his love for her will cease after their divorce.
While the exact cause of divorce remains undisclosed, a source close to the couple said their marital issues stemmed from an “ongoing matter” and is “unrelated to recent allegations involving Simon’s past”.
But according to court documents obtained by Page Six, Williams said Guobadia must preserve all his financial records, including statements, income details, tax filings, and expenses.
In the filing dated February 22, Williams cited the marriage being “irretrievably broken” as her reason for the divorce.
She asked the businessman “not to destroy, conceal or alter” any financial documents relevant to their ongoing separation.
Guobadia was notified of the requirement under Georgia law to “exercise reasonable care to protect and preserve evidence” relevant to the case.
Williams also requested that her prenuptial agreement with Guobadia, which was signed on November 17, 2022, be “enforced” by the court.
The 42-year-old reality TV star requested that he be held financially responsible for all her legal fees associated with the case.
Randall Kessler, Williams’ attorney, said the reality star is “hopeful” that she and Guobadia will “reach an agreement settling all issues between them”.
Their separation comes amid reports that Guobadia was denied permanent residency in the United States due to an alleged criminal record.
Williams was previously married to Kordell Stewart, an ex-NFL player, for two years until their 2013 divorce.
She shares a daughter with Dennis McKinley, her ex-fiancé.
Guobadia, on the other hand, has five children from previous relationships.
