On Friday, Olori, one of Davido’s newly signed artistes, released his debut single ‘Jaye Lo’ along with a music video.

Just after the release, Davido tweeted to promote the song on his page.

The video features Muslims observing Salah, their sacred prayer while Olori is seen sitting on the roof of a mosque.

This has sparked several reactions on social media, especially on Twitter.

Some conservatives have condemned Davido for allowing the video to be released.

Others registered their concern about the idea of associating Islam with secular music.

However, the liberals do not see anything wrong with it.

One notable critic, Bashir Ahmad, who is a former aide to Muhammadu Buhari, took to Twitter on Saturday and argued that the content is disrespectful and offensive to Muslims.

He also urged the singer to respect Salah, stating that no Muslim would find it honourable or acceptable.

“That is our faith. Please respect it. No Muslim will find it honourable or acceptable,” he wrote.

Davido is yet to respond to the criticisms but commentaries have continued to pour in.
