Trace Naija, the top entertainment channel, has announced a new programme to promote homegrown African disc jockeys (DJs).

In a statement on Saturday, the edutainment company said the initiative, titled “Trace DJ Video Mix”, will feature DJ Neptune and other renowned DJs across Africa.

It also said the development is aimed at phasing off old mixes by VocalTeknix, the Paris-based DJ, played on the channel for years.

The company said as from the second weekend in March, the new DJ mixes on the channel will only feature and showcase homegrown African DJs.

In his remark, Samo Onyemelukwe, the managing director of Trace in Anglophone West Africa, said the initiative is aimed at giving African DJs global visibility.

“This new integration is a great development for our homegrown African DJs who deserve the global recognition has much as their recording counterparts. With Trace Video mix; we are introducing Music Video as an Art in different dimensions,” Onyemelukwe said.

“You can be out on the weekend and at your favorite lounge and with the absence of a DJ in your ambiance, you can tune the TV to Trace Naija and have a great night.”

The company also has promised to introduce more interesting initiatives in the coming weeks.

DJ Neptune will be leading the video mix for March. His works will be shown on Trace Naija channel 325 every Friday at 8 pm and Saturday at 10 pm.
