Dele Agbeyo, the Nigerian gospel singer better known as Dele Gold, has been laid to rest.
Gold passed away on September 11 after a brief illness.
The burial ceremony, attended by prominent figures, took place at his residence in Abule Egba, Lagos.
Some notable persons spotted at the event were Saidi Balogun, the Nollywood actor, and Genesis, the gospel singer.
Family and friends paid their last respects to the singer during the lying-in-state.
Abimbola Otusanya, the singer’s colleague at DAAR Communications service, described him as a “generous giver” at the burial ceremony. She also recalled how he helped her during her trying time.
“He was a friend and brother to the house. All through the period he was with DAAR, he was always present,” Otusanya said.
“Sometimes, he will release his equipment for us. He was a generous giver. On a personal note, he is a friend in 2017.
“I had surgery and I needed to travel to Ibadan, Dele gave me a car that took me to my family at no cost.”
The cleric, who officiated the ceremony, also disclosed that the singer “never charged to perform at churches”.
“Dele Gold made an impact with God. Dele did not accept a dime from any church to perform. He used all he owned to serve God,” he said.
Gold’s children and wife were at the graveside as the singer was lowered to the grave.
The singer, known as The Miliki Gospel King, was a native of Usi, Ekiti state, but grew up in Faforiji, Osun state.
