WARRI CONCERT: DAVIDO, PINNICK SETTLE OUT OF COURT
Davido, the music star, has agreed to settle the breach of contract suit filed against him by the Amaju Pinnick-led Brownhill Investment Company Limited out of court.
In October 2023, Pinnick, the former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), filed a N2.3 billion lawsuit against Davido at the high court in Effurun, Delta.
In the suit, Davido was accused of a breach of contract after he failed to perform at the 19th edition of the ‘Warri Again’ concert — despite receiving the fees he demanded.
However, both parties agreed to settle the matter out of court — to which the high court in Delta granted their request last Thursday.
As part of the consent judgment entered in the suit filed against him, Davido agreed to within seven days of execution of the terms of the settlement, pay the sum of N30 million to the claimant, being a part contribution to the claimant’s outstanding legal fees in this suit.
He also agreed to perform live at this year’s ‘Warri Again’ concert scheduled for October 4, 2024.
ACTRESS ABIMBOLA CRAIG RECOUNTS NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE
Actress Abimbola Craig shared her near-death experience after undergoing a brain surgery in 2014.
Craig revealed she battled nausea, insomnia, and weight loss after the surgery.
She said her doctors ran multiple spinal taps (lumbar punctures) but could not identify the cause, adding that they even began to suspect meningitis.
The actress said she thought she was going to die following the surgery.
ACTRESS AMAL UMAR ARRAIGNED IN KANO FOR ‘BRIBING’ POLICE OFFICER
Amal Umar, the Kannywood actress, was on Wednesday arraigned before a magistrate court in Kano state for allegedly bribing a police officer.
The police had launched an investigation into a N40 million fraud case against Umar’s boyfriend Ramadan Inuwa who is declared wanted.
Bashir Mohammed, Kano police spokesperson, said the actress was arraigned after she tried to bribe an officer with N250,000.
He said she allegedly offered the bribe in exchange for her car which was seized by the police after she admitted that her boyfriend transferred some of the money into her account.
Mohammed said the police discovered that Inuwa benefitted from the proceeds of the fraud including a N13 million which she bought a vehicle from.
The actress was also said to have confessed that she received N8 million from her boyfriend.
She was, however, released on bail but was not allowed to leave in the car purchased by her boyfriend.
AMAECHI MUONAGOR IS DEAD
Amaechi Muonagor, the ace Nigerian actor, passed away during the weekend at the age of 61.
The film star was said to have died after a long battle with kidney failure.
In November 2023, the ace actor revealed that he was battling with a stroke.
In the same month, Tony Muonagor, Amaechi’s cousin, disclosed that the actor was fighting kidney disease and diabetes.
GODWIN KABAKA DIES
Godwin ‘Kabaka’ Opara, the ace Nigerian highlife singer, died last Thursday.
The cause of Kabaka’s death was not revealed.
FILMMAKER ANDY BEST PASSES AWAY
On Tuesday, Ikechukwu Nnadi, the ace filmmaker fondly called Andy Best, passed away at a private clinic in Imo state.
PATRICK DOYLE TACKLES CHRISTIANS
The ace actor last week tackled Christians who normally use the phrase ‘What God cannot do does not exist’.
The slogan is popular among Christians as an expression of the belief that God can accomplish the impossible.
The thespian, however, argued that even though the slogan has been proven to be “nonsensical”, people still chant it.
Although Doyle did not provide evidence to back his argument, he also condemned the slogan which he referred to as “silly”.
He urged Christians to be wary of using phrases that have tendencies to introduce “false teachings”.
