On Tuesday, the singer announced his intention to donate the amount to Nigerian orphans through the David Adeleke Foundation.

Davido said the gesture is part of his annual contribution to the nation.

“I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million Naira to orphanages around Nigeria … as my yearly contribution to the Nation .. details of disbursement tomorrow,” he wrote.

An X user, however, taunted the singer, saying the donation was for “eye service”.

“This guy reminds me of that movie ‘She must be obeyed. Oju Aiye sha,” the X user wrote.

But on Wednesday, the music star quoted the critic’s post with a screenshot showing proof of the transaction. The account balance also showed the sum of N306,420,973.

Davido first embarked on the philanthropic routine in November 2021 — on his birthday.

The ‘Timeless’ hitmaker launched a Twitter fundraiser and donated the N250 million realised to orphanages.

In July last year, the Afrobeats star also gave out the sum of N237 million to various orphanage homes across Nigeria.

The 31-year-old singer went on to reaffirm his commitment to assist the less privileged in any capacity continually.

The donation also comes at about the same time when many citizens of Nigeria are grappling with economic hardship occasioned by the policies under the government of President Bola Tinubu.
