Aliko Dangote, billionaire businessman and Africa’s richest man, and Abba Kyari, chief of staff to the president, were among the dignitaries that attended the wedding ceremony of Fatima Abubakar, daughter of Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar III, in Sokoto.
Fatima was given out in marriage to Mahmood, the son of Isa Yuguda, former Bauchi state governor, at N50,000, bride price on Saturday.
No fewer than 17 aircraft which transported dignitaries to the event landed at the airport in Sokoto.
Boss Mustapha, the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) and Kyari represented President Muhammadu Buhari at the occasion held at Sultan Bello Mosque.
The marriage was solemnised according to Islamic rites led by Malami Akwara, chief imam of Sultan Bello Mosque, while prayers were offered by Muhammad Tanko, chief justice of Nigeria (CJN), Shehu Galadanchi, chief imam of the national mosque, among others.
The bride was represented by Muhammadu Bashar, emir of Gwandu, while the groom was represented by Rilwan Adamu, the emir of Bauchi, during the solemisation rite.
Among the prominent personalities that attended the wedding were Dahiru Mangal, business mogul; Muhammad Adamu, inspector general of police (IGP); Ahmed Idris, accountant general of the federation (AGF); Adamu Mu’azu, former Bauchi governor and Attahiru Bafarawa, former Sokoto governor.
Other dignitaries included Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto state and governors of Imo, Delta, Zamfara, Platue, Osun, Kebbi and Adamawa states.
Among royal fathers that graced the occasion were Muhammadu Sanusi II, emir of Kano, along with emirs of Maradun, Argungu and many others.
