Damilola Adeyemi, the estranged wife of Lamidi Adeyemi, Alaafin of Oyo, has apologised to the monarch, over her scathing remarks about him.
Damilola had left the palace in April after claiming that she was locked up in a cell for violating palace rules.
She had also granted several interviews wherein she called out the Alaafin and alleged maltreatment by the monarch.
But in an Instagram post on Sunday, the entrepreneur said her past comments were influenced by friends and her frustration at the time.
The brand influencer also denied her earlier claim that the Alaafin was not taking care of her, adding that it was “false”.
“I want to use this medium to tender unreserved apologies to the entire families of Adeyemi (Alaafin of Oyo) over my last post. Please, I want you all to know that I’m not under duress in sending this message and that I’m in good state of mind,” she wrote.
“That all that I said in my last post about leaving the palace and that Alaafin was not taking care of me and all what I said negatively concerning him (Alaafin) was false.
“It was friends that misled me and out of frustration. But now things are clear and I’m sincerely sorry for trying to bring down the royal family.”
Damilola said she had been making efforts to get the forgiveness of the 83-year-old monarch and the royal family.
“I have been to Lagos and Abuja to seek the forgiveness of the royal family. I write this in tears and beg every good mother to please plead to my husband (Alaafin of Oyo) on my behalf to forgive me,” she added.
“And to all those that contribute one money or the other when I get back to palace, I’ll definitely refund you people. Thanks. It’s for those that understand that there is no place like home.”
