Joseph Aloba, the father of Mohbad, says the late singer tried to reconcile him with Abosede Aloba, his wife.
Born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, Mohbad died on September 12 and was buried the following day.
The circumstances surrounding his death have continued to stir up controversies.
In October, Abosede said she only started to have a cordial relationship with Mohbad in 2019.
Aloba, in a recent chat with Oriyomi Hamzat, the radio personality, said Mohbad tried to organise a wedding ceremony for him and Abosede in a bid to reconcile them.
Aloba also said he had separated from the late singer’s mother for 15 years.
He said the wedding was scheduled for October — a month before Mohbad’s death.
Aloba added that he would honour the late singer’s request to reconcile with Abosede even in his death.
“The day Mohbad died, I had earlier decided that I would not go out of the house, but Mohbad’s mother called me that Mohbad was ill. I then told her to meet me at the bus stop because her place was not far from mine. We had started talking at that time,” he said.
“Even it was just a month that he (Mohbad) wanted to organise a wedding ceremony for us. He tried a lot. He is a son I love. He would say ‘daddy, this is what I want’. He said ‘why should I go to Ikorodu because I want to see my father and go to Sango to visit my mother’.
“When I heard those words I remembered everything he had been saying for over two years. When I listened to him when he was alive, should I now do otherwise when he died? It is not what is good.
“What is he (Mohbad) said in his song about not seeing his mother for 10 years was actually 15 years.
“Everybody knows in our family. Mohbad was seven years old when his mum left. His sibling was two and half years, while his older sister was 10 years old.”
On September 21, Mohbad’s body was exhumed by the police for autopsy.
There have been calls from several Nigerians — including singer Bella Shmurda and actress Tonto Dikeh — asking for the release of Mohbad’s body for burial.
Last week, Abosede claimed that after the police performed the autopsy on Mohbad, the body was released to Aloba for burial.
She alleged that Aloba has refused to “release the corpse for burial despite the pleadings”.
Aloba, however, warned that nobody should collect his son’s body for burial without his approval.
Last Thursday, the Lagos counsel sitting on Mohbad’s coroner’s inquest disclosed that the toxicology test for the internal body is being done in the US.
