The anti-graft commission had on Monday grilled the 46-year-old nightlife promoter for alleged money laundering and tax fraud.

The development has continued to elicit different reactions, as many Nigerians registered their views on social media platforms.

Joining the fray in a post via his Instagram page on Tuesday, Cubana Chief Priest demanded the release of his friend and former boss, using the hashtag #FreeObiCubana.

The Instagram celebrity also claimed that the Igbos are used to getting such treatment from the Nigerian government.

“What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. We Igbos are used to this, Mbakala ga ama ozo mana ozo ga ala. #FreeObiCubana,” he wrote.

Obi Cubana, whose real name is Obinna Iyiegbu, became a viral sensation after he buried his mother, who died in December last year, in grand style.

The entrepreneur has featured in comedy skits and snagged numerous recognition.

He had earlier revealed why he threw a lavish funeral ceremony in honour of his late mother and also defended his open display of wealth.

His case comes about a year after the police also detained Cubana Chief Priest over alleged misuse of escorts and unexplained wealth.
