Buju, the fast-rising Nigerian singer, has shared a rather witty story of how he met and worked out a collaboration with Timaya.
The songwriter was responding on Twitter to a fan who asked him how he knew a joint single with Timaya would become a hit.
Buju tweeted that Timaya had invited him over, served him pepper soup after which they had a studio session.
“Willis called and said Timaya wanted to see me. I went to see him at a lounge he was at and he said I’m his favorite artiste atm since I remind him of juice Wrld, lol,” he said.
“We went to his house afterward, he give me some bomb ass pepper soup and I just started singing.”
Buju and Timaya earlier joined forces for a single titled ‘Cold Outside’.
2021 also saw Buju’s emergence from relative obscurity into prominence.
Since his major breakthrough with ‘Lenu’ and ‘Spiritual’ featuring Zlatan Ibile, Buju has continued to showcase his lyricism.
The 22-year-old Afrobeat singer has dozens of collaborations on songs that reverberated the music space.
This includes his work with Ladipoe and Blaqbonez.
The singer also released an EP titled ‘Sorry I’m Late‘ which further increased his popularity in 2021.
