Brymo, the Nigerian singer, has accused Burna Boy, the Afro-fusion star, of copyright infringement.
In August, Burna Boy released his seventh album titled ‘I Told Them’.
‘City Boys’, a hit song off the singer’s 15-track project, has continued to enjoy global success.
But in a recent post via his Instagram page, Brymo claimed that the album title and hit track “were fed to Burna Boy”.
Brymo argued that the ‘Last Last’ hitmaker “stole” from his upcoming album titled ‘Macabre’.
He also described Burna Boy’s actions as “an actual crime”, adding that he “will regret it”.
“By end of this year you all will recollect that ‘Macabre’ was not released when in the public, and as privately as it gets ‘City Boy’ and ‘I Told You’ were fed to Burna Boy,” he said.
“Former of the track titles I mentioned above is there to point me to the fact that the latter, and his album title is the hook I sing on my album title track ‘Macabre’.
“Burna is really a boy. And that is a crime, an actual crime… to do time for. And if you like you can resurrect legends to come complain about stolen songs. You will regret this shit to numerous degrees.”
Last month, Brymo described Burna Boy as an artiste who “lacks originality in his music”.
“I think he is sleazy, he is cheap, he is a thief, very unoriginal, and very fake. Every song is a sample or a stolen slogan, who does that?” he said.
