The comedienne had previously revealed she was born out of rape.

She recalled how her aunties would caution her grandmother — who she grew up with — not to use her allowance on her.

Helen said her grandmother, however, consistently urged her to stay focused on becoming someone significant in life.

Helen said due to her grandmother’s advice, she has achieved success both as “a comedian in Nigeria and as a professor in the United States”.

TENI’S BATTLE WITH ‘LIFE-THREATENING’ THROAT INFECTION

Teni Apata, the Nigerian singer, revealed that she was diagnosed with a throat infection while recording her second album.

The singer disclosed that she was diagnosed with the “life-threatening” infection in July.

She said she sought medical assistance and was advised to undergo surgery to avoid losing her voice permanently.

Teni said she later recovered “my singing voice” without undergoing surgery.

The singer described her healing as a “testimony”, adding that ‘Tears of the Sun’ – her new album, would be released on November 17.

SHAN GEORGE ISSUES WARNING

Shan George, the Nigerian actress, warned her colleagues not to include her in WhatsApp groups for financial contributions if they cannot get her roles in movies.

George said she is consistently added to several WhatsApp groups to contribute to the welfare of their ailing colleagues in need but is “excluded for movie roles”.

Speaking in pidgin English, the actress said she believes individuals should handle their matters because when she had problems, nobody seemed to care.

BRAIN JOTTER VS ENIOLA

Brain Jotter, the skit maker, last week described Eniola, the physically challenged hawker, as a “thief who is trying to manipulate Nigerians emotionally”.

Eniola started to gain attention after the content creator gifted him the sum of N400,000 to start up his makeup business.

This was after Jotter spotted Eniola hawking bottled water on the street of Lagos state.

The skit maker also said he, however, found out from a social media user that Eniola is a man.

The comedian revealed that he helped Eniola not because of his gender, but because he is physically challenged.

He added that his anger towards Eniola is his “strategy to take advantage of the good nature and gullibility of Nigerians”.

Eniola recently revealed that he dresses like a woman because he needs “help”.

He also claimed he has been receiving death threats on Instagram.
