In a recent interview on Cool FM, the artiste said he does not believe in seeking validation from influencers “because I am confident in myself and my work”.

He also alleged that some artistes “pay Twitter influencers” for song promotion.

“If you are an artiste and you do not have that belief in your heart that you are talented, I do not see why you are making music,” he said.

“I have noticed this thing where they go pay Twitter influencers, they have this WhatsApp group where you can just drop one million or even two million and tell them to post different hashtags like #BoySpyceisdope.

“Something like ‘all of you should say I am dope’ and they even give them time. They pay one or two million into their group and the influencers share it among themselves.

“They come and push the narrative that this particular artiste is dope and the next thing you see that this artiste is trending, like why do you need the validation?

“That shit pisses me off. They tried to do that with me and I blocked all of them. You guys are not going to use me for PR because I am confident in myself. The vision is too big to care about influencers’ validation.

“Artistes need to stop paying people to tell the world they are dope, show them you are dope.”

Born Ugbekile Osameke, the songwriter began his music career as a social media sensation, making cover versions of popular songs.

He signed for Mavin Records in 2022.
