Bovi, the Nigerian comedian-actor, says he doesn’t consider himself a celebrity.
The entertainer stated this during a red-carpet conversation with Goldmyne.
Bovi said he regards himself as an “entertainer” out to “give” and avoids the term celebrity.
“I don’t consider myself a celebrity. I think of myself as an entertainer. I like to focus my energy on what I can give people. So, call me the entertainer. Leave celeb for now,” the actor said.
Bovi began his career in April 2007, starring in the sitcom ‘Extended Family’, which he also wrote and produced.
Between 2008 to 2011, he was an emerging force in comedy shows and events throughout Nigeria.
The entertainer made his stand-up comedy debut in Nigeria’s premiere comedy franchise, ‘Night of a Thousand Laughs‘ organised by Opa Williams.
By 2011, he was headlining the show and, between 2013 and 2014, had his first stand-up special in Lagos.
He would go on to stage the sequel in 2014, making the ‘Man on Fire’ franchise.
Bovi took the one-man special to several cities in the US, London, Melbourne, Kiev, Brisbane, Sydney, Moscow, and Toronto.
He went on a break after the 2014 edition and returned his franchise to Lagos after three years.
The fourth edition of his one-man special in Lagos was held in April 2019.
Bovi began a series titled ‘Back to School’ in 2018 which he uploads to his YouTube channel.
The comedian has worked alongside the likes of Basketmouth, Buchi, Odogwu, Okey Bakassi, and Julius Agwu.
In July 2022, Bovi held his latest comedy special, ‘Bovi: Naughty By Nature’ in Lagos.
