The social media celebrity, born Idris Okuneye, was arrested by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Monday at the Seme border, a settlement on the Nigeria-Benin border, while allegedly attempting to flee the country.

The agency disclosed that it would hand over Bobrisky to the appropriate authorities for further action after its investigation.

Aminat Mayegun, Lagos FCID PRO, confirmed Bobrisky’s detention to TheCable Lifestyle on Tuesday, stating that an official statement will be released once the ongoing investigation is complete.

Bobrisky, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) are being investigated by a committee of the house of representatives over bribery allegations.

Her ordeal started after activist VeryDarkMan shared a purported audio conversation wherein the crossdresser claimed that she paid some EFCC officials N15 million to drop money laundering charges against her.

She also claimed that she spent her six-month jail term in an apartment rather than Kirikiri prison due to the influence of “my godfather”.

The self-proclaimed transgender later described the viral recording as “fake” and threatened to sue VeryDarkMan for alleged defamation.

Meanwhile, an investigative panel had revealed there was no evidence that Bobrisky slept outside the prison during her six-month jail term.
