Beyonce Knowles has cancelled her performance at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival as advised by her doctors.
The singer who is pregnant with twins was billed to co-headline the concert which will take place in April.
Subsequent to her withdrawal, it has been announced that she will perform at the 2018 edition of the festival.
“Following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months, Beyoncé has made the decision to forgo performing at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. However, Goldenvoice and Parkwood are pleased to confirm that she will be a headliner at the 2018 festival. Thank you for your understanding,” said a statement by the organisers of the festival.
Rihanna, Pink, Katy Perry, Missy Elliott, Nicki Minaj, Lauryn Hill, Jennifer Hudson, Erykah Badu, or Mary J. Blige are some of the artistes who may replace Beyonce.
The news of the Formation singer’s withdrawal has led to a dip in the price of Coachella tickets, according to Billboard.
Coachella is regarded as the world’s biggest and most profitable festival.
In 2016, it drew a total of 200,000 music lovers to the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California.
The festival grossed an estimated $94 million.
