BBNaija’s Maria: I didn’t know my lover was married when we met

Maria Chike, the former BBNaija housemate, says she was not aware Kelvin Anene, her lover, was married when they started dating. 

In October 2021, Cubana Chief Priest, the Nigerian socialite, accused Maria of having an affair with his sister’s husband.

He argued that the alleged affair led to his sister’s divorce from Kelvin.

Maria responded in July 2022 with a cryptic Twitter post wherein she said “my silence is for the best of so many people involved”.

But in a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo, the media personality, the reality star reiterated her innocence regarding the allegation.

Maria said she will stand by the truth which is that “I didn’t destroy any marriage”.

She also argued that she has never ruined any home.

“I actually wasn’t aware whether or not he was married. When we first started dating. I’m going to stand by it and that’s the gospel truth. I didn’t destroy any marriage. I have never and I would never,” she said.

In a recent interview with TheCable Lifestyle, Maria also said she “has never broken any home”.

“No, I did not in any way snatch anyone,” she had said.

“First of all, I don’t owe anyone an answer. It’s my personal life, and that’s my private dating life that I will never speak about. Just to rephrase that, no, I’ve never had to break a family. I’ve never done that.”
