The organisers of the Big Brother Naija Naija (BBNaija) season six say it spent over “N4.3 billion to air this year’s edition of the show”.
John Ugbe, CEO of Multichoice Nigeria, spoke on Monday during the prize presentation ceremony.
He also disclosed that over 12,000 people were hired for the production of the reality show.
“We employed 12,000 persons for this show, it cost us N4.3 billion to air this show this year,” Ugbe said.
“We use BBNaija to enrich lives and contribute positively to society. We hope to continue to do so.”
The announcement comes a few hours after Ebuka Uchendu, the show host, revealed that the reality programme recorded over one billion votes.
White Money also received a cash prize of N30 million and a brand new sports utility vehicle (SUV) for winning the BBNaija season six.
TheCable Lifestyle had earlier examined factors that facilitated White Money’s emergence as the winner of this year’s edition of the show.
This year’s grand prize is the highest in the show’s history since its debut in 2006.
The organisers had earlier said the sum of N30 million will be the cash prize while N60 million will cover travel and other gifts.
