Phyna, the BBNaija season seven winner, and Groovy, her fellow housemate and ex-lover, have revealed why their relationship crashed.
The pair shared lovey-dovey moments that left tongues wagging during their stint in the 2022 ‘Level Up’ edition of the show.
In the latest episode of BBNaija’s reunion show on Friday, the former housemates disclosed that their romance ended in January.
Groovy said he and Phyna were incompatible and that fans also amplified their conflicts by making different allegations online.
He also denied the allegations that he physically assaulted Phyna.
“It ended a couple of months ago and to be honest, the reason why the relationship didn’t work was because of some irreconcilable differences,” Groovy said.
“I always said the way I viewed relationships in the house was going to be different on the outside because in the house we know how intense it can get.
“I always said to her that, when we come outside, we’ll see how the relationship goes because I knew it’s going to be different experiences and different vibes.
“And when we came outside, we gave it a go. It ended I think in January, the situation was just personal issues. Things never got physical with Phyna.
“I’m not that kind of person, it’s not in my DNA. I wasn’t raised that way to be violent or to physically abuse a woman.”
Phyna, in turn, blamed what she described as Groovy’s “confused and manipulative behaviour” for their breakup.
“I was on my own and started seeing blogs calling me an abuser. There was one time I think he had a reaction on his face and they said I was the one who slapped him,” the BBNaija winner said.
“At this time we were no longer together. Groovy is someone I’ve never insulted, not to talk of hitting him. You can say Phyna is razz, loud but never an abuser.
“And now where the relationship got soured was because Groovy is confused. He is very manipulative, honestly.”
The latest expose comes as Phyna had previously stated her relationship with Groovy was just a game they both agreed to play.
