Francisca Owumi, the Nigerian reality TV star, is dead.
The family of Owumi announced her demise on her Instagram page with the caption: “A daughter and sister. May her soul rest in peace, Amen”.
Although the family did not reveal when she died, the reality star was said to have passed on after a brief illness.
Owumi was the first runner-up on the inaugural season of Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) in 2006.
Known for her energetic dance moves, she was in the house with contestants such as the winner Katung Aduwak, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Gideon Okeke, Maureen Osuji, Ify Ejikeme, and the late Joseph Ada, among others.
In 2012, she briefly ventured into the Nigerian music scene, releasing two singles, ‘Gbadun You’ and ‘Diva’, under her own record label, Cisca Entertainment.
She was also a writer for Revista, an international magazine based in Ghana.
Since January 2024, Nollywood has lost dozens of celebrities including Mr Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Junior Pope, Sisi Quadri, and Ganiyu ‘Ogunjimi‘ Oyeyemi.
Others who lost their lives include Olofa Ina, Adejumoke Aderounmu, Saratu Gidado, Reginald Ebere, and Ethel Ekpe.
