The anti-graft commission had invited the socialite for interrogation on Monday and detained him thereafter.

Onwumelu Valentine, the businessman’s friend and colleague, had earlier claimed that he was released from custody on Tuesday.

But a top source in the commission had dismissed the claim.

The case had elicited different reactions, as many Nigerians — including celebrities — registered their views on social media platforms.

2Baba, Peter Okoye, Ubi Franklin, and Cubana Chief Priest earlier joined other celebrities to demand the release of the socialite using the hashtag #FreeObiCubana.

Abba Bichi, son of Yusuf Bichi, the director-general (DG) of the Department of State Services (DSS), also described Cubana as “a man of dignity”.
