Banky W says he still finds time to change his baby’s diaper despite having employed a nanny.
Isaiah Olusegun Wellington, born in 2021, is Banky W’s first child with Adesuwa Etomi, his actress wife.
The Nigerian music executive, in an interview, described himself as a “loud and proud” hands-on father.
“Fatherhood is my favourite job description. The boy is so full of life. Isaiah Olusegun Wellington is everything we hoped for and more. Every morning, I’m the first person he sees, before his mom or the nanny,” he said.
“When he wakes, I do the first duty: I take him out of bed, clean his diapers, feed him, play with him. We have our bonding moment. I think that I understand a bit more God’s love for us as his children, now that I have a child.
“I’m a loud and proud hands-on father. His first word was ‘dada’. He’s only nine and a half months.”
Asked why he went off the music scene for a while, the EME record label co-founder replied: “to live”.
“I disappeared musically speaking for a while. Artistes never retire. They just stop when they no longer have something to say. I took some time off to just live, get married, have a baby, build businesses,” the singer added.
“I did politics and followed my heart in those facets. I needed time to live those experiences so I can have more stories to tell and songs to sing about.”
