MultiChoice has called on interested participants to submit their entries as the audition for Nigerian Idol season 8 begins.
The South African entertainment company also announced that the show will be held in April 2023.
Last year, the local version of the Idol series franchise returned to the screen after five years break.
Season 7 of the reality show saw Progress Chukwuyem emerge winner after his triumph over Zadok, his fellow contestant.
In a blog post, Busola Tejumola, the head of content and West Africa channels, said the entries are open from January 14 to 28.
“We are looking for more talent that will pack the heat the way our contestants in season 7 did,” she said.
“MultiChoice has committed to spotlighting young talent in Nigeria in different sectors. As with past seasons of the music talent competition, we remain committed to promoting and giving young, promising Nigerian musicians a platform to shine and actualise their dreams. Season eight promises to be bigger and more entertaining than other seasons.
“Last year, after a fierce battle between Progress and Zadok, the former emerged victorious, and we are looking for more talent that will pack the heat the way our contestants in season 7 did. So, if you believe you have what it takes to be the next Nigerian Idol, upload your audition clips on the Africa Magic website before January 28, 2023.”
The winner of this year’s edition will walk away with the N30 million cash prize, among other rewards.
Interested contestants between 16 and 18 years are required to upload a 30-second video of them singing any song of their choice here.
