The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has appointed Amos Josiah Dangut as the new head for its Nigeria office.

In a statement to TheCable Lifestyle on Monday, the board announced that Dangut, a deputy registrar, will be taking over as the head of its national office.

Dangut is to take over from Patrick Areghan, whose tenure ends in October 2023.

WAEC said Dangut joined the service of the council in 1998 as an assistant registrar II and rose through the ranks to become a deputy registrar in April 2018.

Dangut served as an assistant registrar/Subject Officer at the Test Development Division of WAEC in Lagos between July 1998 to January 2005.

He was senior assistant registrar/head of examinations security and the deputy to the branch controller at the Uyo branch office between January 2005 and January 2008.

The newly appointed HNO served as the senior assistant registrar/head of examinations security and deputy to the branch controller, Bauchi branch office from January 2008 to December 2011.

He was also senior assistant registrar/branch controller at the Yola Branch office from December 2011 to January 2019.

Dangut would eventually work as the deputy registrar/controller at the post-examinations department from January 2019 to October 2020 and later as deputy registrar/zonal coordinator at the Ikeja zonal office.

“For the past 25 years, he has leveraged Information and Communications Technology to innovatively improve processes in Test Development, Test Administration and Post Test Activities,” WAEC’s statement reads in part.

“Dangut is an astute scholar with various educational publications in international and national journals. He has also presented numerous keynotes and other papers at international and national conferences/fora.”
