Amirah-Iman ‘Amirror’ Thiam, one of the wives of Akon, the Senegalese-American singer, has detailed how she met her husband.
In an interview with HipTV, Amirror, the songstress, revealed that their paths crossed in 2012 through a mutual producer while working on music projects and singles.
She described the encounter as the start of a meaningful connection. She said Akon signed her to his record label Konvict Kulture in 2018.
Amirror said joining the label marked the beginning of their professional collaboration.
“The connection happened. I met Akon in 2012 with the producer I was working on projects and singles then and from there me and Akon stayed connected. Then we came together as one,” she said.
“At the end of 2018, he signed me to Konvict Kulture. From there, he gave me the playbook, the blueprint and I feel like I am just honored and grateful to have the playbook and blueprint from Akon because honestly he is a legend.
“He is my biggest critic but he is also my biggest cheerleader. So we balance off each other, we respect each other. He is working over there and I am working over here and I feel like as long as we are both doing we both love to do, then we are always going to grow together.”
Akon’s marital life has been subject to controversy due to his polygamous relationships. Reports suggest he has multiple wives, including Tomeka Thiam, Rozina Negusei, Amirror, and Tricia Ann Thiam.
In 2022, Akon also admitted to having more than one wife in an interview with Big Boy — but refused to divulge the number.
