Akon has signed Nigerian singer-producer DeeVee to his Konvict Africa record label.
The Senegalese-American music icon made this known on Tuesday night via a post on his Instagram page.
DeeVee, born Divine Austins, was formerly signed to D’banj’s D’Kings Men record label.
“I don’t know if you all know this man. This is Deevee, straight from Nigeria. One of our producers for Konvict Africa,” Akon said in the video he posted.
“He’s one of the most prolific producers out here. He’s now part of the family,” he added.
The accompanying caption for the post read: “I am with my man @iamdeevee in Nigeria rocking to his future smashes. He’s a beast. Thank you for representing Konvict Africa so proudly @ayoshonaiya @lambakingbaddest @iredumare @sayyu.jr.”
Ayo Shonaiya, a UK-based lawyer and music talent agent, who works with Akon’s Konvict Africa imprint, also welcomed DeeVee to the label in a post of his own.
“DeeVee, welcome to the #KonvictKartel. Producer/Writer for Akon. @lambakingbaddest @akon @iamdeevee Lagos, Nigeria,” he wrote.
In another post showing them working in the studio, he wrote: “Straight to work. No time to waste time. DeeVee x Akon. #KonvictKartel #KonLive.”
Shonaiya has, in the past, managed the likes of Fuji icon Wasiu Ayinde, D’banj and Don Jazzy.
