Starboy Ahmed, the young rapper who was promised N10 million by Wizkid in 2017, has claimed that he is yet to receive the cash.

During one of Wizkid’s concerts over four years ago, the Grammy-winning singer spotted Ahmed singing along from the audience.

Wizkid had promised Ahmed the said amount and a record deal after the young rapper delivered rap lines when called up on stage.

But several self-made videos of Ahmed have surfaced on social media platforms showing things have fallen out between him and Wizkid.

In one of the videos, Ahmed could be seen claiming Wizkid reneged on his promise of signing him to Starboy Records.

He also alleged that his father passed away due to the singer’s failure to come through for him in his music career as promised.

Ahmed said he had to return to the streets and continue his “hustle” of rapping to strangers to obtain their help.

“It is what I do to feed my parents. Due to the news that Wizkid signed me, my daddy died. I didn’t see anything. It is suffering that made me go out. After four years, I didn’t see anything. I didn’t record,” he said.

“That’s what I do (rapping to strangers on the streets). If I see people on the streets, I’d want to rap for them.

“From there, I could get someone who is willing to help me. That’s how I’ve been doing it. Wizkid said he would help me. But since then, I haven’t seen his brake light.”

In 2018, Wizkid had tweeted that Ahmed had been enrolled in a school. “Education first,” the Grammy-winner said.

Commenting on the issue, Alaka Basit, a young singer who claims to be a beneficiary of Wizkid’s aid, described Ahmed as an “ungrateful soul”.

“They expelled you from school due to your bad behaviour. Now you’re telling lies and you feel this is the best way to get Wiz’s attention back. You got it all wrong, bro. Our school fee alone is roughly 3 million yearly,” Basit wrote.

“You have been in that school before me. Just ask God for forgiveness. I can’t get imagine Ahmed saying all this after BigWiz gave you a new life, a life that will make your future bright. You chose to continue being a street boy.

“[He gave you] an opportunity that lots of people were praying for. If my own school fees were to be saved yearly, my parents will be millionaires, not to talk of you who have been in school long before Wiz found me.

“You just bit the hand finger that has been feeding you for long and you’re not even scared of what might happen.”

Corroborating Basit’s stance, Roy Emmanuel Obinna, one of Wizkid’s associates, said Ahmed had derailed.

According to him, the young rapper got involved in gang business and smoking, prompting his expulsion from the school.

“Wiz gave him more than N10 million and still put him on one of the best schools. Got them a new apartment, furnished everywhere. But the donkey was just busy smoking up and down and doing some gang shit,” Roy said.

“That was why he got expelled. And for his mum, Wizkid gave her huge money to start a good business.”

Responding, Ahmed put out another post where he admitted that Wizkid spent more than N10 million on him.

He, however, clarified that he wasn’t given the funds in cash and that he was never signed to Wizkid’s label as promised.

“Truly, Wiz did what is more than N10m for me. For your school fees and accommodation. But not that he gave me N10m cash, for those who said I used the N10m for drugs. I wasn’t in any music contract with him,” he said.

“That’s why I went out there to rap for the hustle to keep going. I was not signed, no major shows, no records.

“I couldn’t get a means to survive again till your accommodation is due in Ikorodu where Wizkid got for me and my mum. I then went back to Ketu where I originated from.”

In another post, he added: “I’m not here to blackmail Wizkid or tarnish his image. He has done good things for me but just left it unfinished. Now I’m only back to work on my talent and show the word what I have got.”

Calls placed to Caleb International School, Magodo in Lagos to confirm if Ahmed was expelled were unanswered as of when this report was filed.
