Gamathon is an annual event that unites over 2,000 creatives from across the continent to showcase projects, network, and explore collaboration and funding opportunities.

This year’s edition is scheduled to be held in Lagos from September 29 to October 4.

The Nigerian edition, which serves as the grand finale of this year’s continental tour, follows successful regional editions in Kenya, Ghana and South Africa.

Tagged “Bridge’, the theme builds on last year’s ‘Thrive’ edition, with a focus on expanding cross-continental collaboration, youth empowerment and investment opportunities within Africa’s creative ecosystem.

The week-long convention will feature knowledge-sharing sessions, workshops, masterclasses, and policy discussions spanning game development, XR, digital fashion, spatial computing, and interactive storytelling.

A pitch competition with a $2,000 prize pool for PC and mobile games is also on the lineup.

Other highlights for the six-day programme include industry showcases, curated networking opportunities and a Pan-African game jam. Participants will also gain direct access to investors, accelerators and publishing opportunities.

This year’s edition will witness major announcements, including the unveiling of new titles like ‘Relooted’, the debut of Cregon Studios, the launch of games from Google’s Android port challenge and the roll-out of a $30,000 Android game development programme for African creators.
