In a recent interview, the ‘Something Different’ hitmaker revealed that his breakthrough came after Pheelz, the renowned music producer, heard his song Sade and decided to share it with Olamide.

The 37-year-old, born Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko, added that Olamide listened to the track and did not hesitate to sign him.

“Pheelz heard ‘Sade’ and sent it to Olamide. Olamide heard the song. We already had a relationship because I was already designing for him. I designed the YBNL logo and cover arts for Lil Kesh and Vector,” he said.

“Pheelz heard the song, sent it to him, and he was like, ‘I think you should sign this guy’. So, Olamide called me, signed me, and my life changed.”

In July, Gold expressed his gratitude to Olamide for seeing beyond his skills as a graphic designer and welcoming him into the YBNL family.

The music star first gained recognition with his hit track ‘Sade’, a highlife cover of One Direction’s ‘Story of My Life’ in 2015. He was officially signed to YBNL that same year, and released his debut album, ‘Gold’.

He later exited the record label after his contract had expired.
